A successful model
Fondo Naturaleza Chile replicates a successful funding and investment model used for more than 30 years worldwide to finance the conservation of biodiversity.
The environmental funds that exist in 19 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, organized through the Network of Environmental Funds of Latin America and the Caribbean (RedLAC), have managed to strategically and efficiently channel more than $2 billion dollars towards conservation activities and projects in the last 30 years.

Enhancing public efforts
Fondo Naturaleza Chile will complement public resources and will coordinate with State officials to address the finance gap for biodiversity conservation.
Chile is among the 10 countries that allocate the least funding to biodiversity in the world, and it is something that we at Fondo Naturaleza Chile want to change together with partners from the public and private sectors, and organizations from the civil society.
Promoting effective conservation throughout the country
Fondo Naturaleza Chile seeks to strengthen local civil society organizations that work to promote the conservation of Chilean biodiversity in their own territories. We place special emphasis on working with the communities surrounding protected areas, due to their role as guardians of the natural heritage of our country.
